Pre-Reformation

After Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, the Christianity flourished in many places, in spite of many persecutions and the death of many Christians, who died because of their faiths.

But, as the time went by and the church grew, also the problems appeared, usually brought by false and corrupt Christians. The problems were related to matters as church politics, structure and, specially, doctrine. So, during centuries, many errors were introduced and adopted as Church’s teaching, taking it away from the real Gospel of Christ.

Some faithful and concerned Christians did make many attempts to bring the church back to Christ’s Teaching. Among them were Augustine, Peter Waldo, John Wyclif and John Hus, but they achieved not much. The errors and the corruption continued. It seemed they were even growing.
